In order to obtain an Apostille Certificate for a South African document, the country that will be receiving the document must be a signatory to the Apostille Convention (Convention de La Haye du 5 octobre 1961).
We are able to assist with the apostilling of all documents issued in South Africa for use overseas with the processing time being approximately 2 - 4 working days depending on the documents requiring apostilling (Please note that under Covid lockdown conditions, this process is currently taking 7 - 15 working days to complete).
South African documents being legalised for use in countries which aren't signatories to the Apostille Convention (such as China, Taiwan and Vietnam) have to follow a slightly longer process, involving having them authenticated and then submitting them to the relevant Embassy for legalisation. To see which countries are signatories to the Apostille Convention click here.
The processing time for authentication of documents is approximately 4 - 7 working days (country dependent). Please note that under covid lockdown conditions this process is currently taking 10 - 20 working days to complete.
Attestation is basically the authentication of South African documents for use in Middle Eastern countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman.
The processing time for the attestation of documents is approximately 3 - 7 working days and is largely dependent on the documents which are required to be attested and the country that they are required to be attested for. Please note that under covid lockdown conditions this process is taking 10 - 20 working days to complete.
We have a division (Document Attestation SA) specialising in the attestation of documents for use in the Middle East and will take care of all of your attestation requirements.
